HoneyHoney

HoneyHoney was sooo good! The show was in a room above The Stronghold retail store (that link will show you the building if you're interested). It was a big room with a little stage and a couple couches RIGHT in front of the stage. Matt and I snagged the couch seats and I got the best shot for recording with my flip. I held it and rested my hand on my umbrella so my videos are pretty stable. I recorded their whole set. I don't think I'm going to record again at future HoneyHoney shows because I feel like I was only half paying attention to the show due to trying to keep the camera's shot still. Matt and I met Ben Jaffe the guitarist after the show, he was nice. Matt spoke to him for a bit; I didn't know what to say (I would never really know what to say to music artists besides complementing them on their set and their music in general and how much I like them - although I'd probably end up sounding like a crazy fan). Anyways, here is one of my videos. It's a new song called "Ohio":

Yay music!

My boyfriend Matt and I have been going to quite a bit of shows lately. I had discovered this band, HoneyHoney (myspace music if you want to have a listen - I suggest you do!), when we went to see another singer/songwriter that I like, Nicole Atkins. I guess it wasn't really a discovery since Nicole Atkins was opening for HoneyHoney. Usually Matt and I arrive at shows and stay only to just see the one band we meant to see. But I did want to stick around to see HoneyHoney, a decision based on listening to their live-streamed-myspace-music, and because we did that we became fans. I like how HoneyHoney is located near where I am so I can attend their shows. It's especially nice that they've been playing shows. I'm not a fanatic, yet, like I am of Ingrid Michaelson.

If you're in the area, HoneyHoney is playing in Venice this Friday, February 5th at The Stronghold. The Stronghold is a denim shop by day, interesting. According to their site, they were "the first denim brand manufactured in Los Angeles" "in 1895". Their store looks cute. So does their website - so give it a click.

Maybe if The Stronghold allows it, I'll bring my camera to take pictures. Or record with my Flip. Then I'll get to post videos on YouTube and relive the performance - especially the new-unpurchaseable songs which aren't on their album. I love watching parts of music shows on YouTube, I like to do it when I procrastinate.

Yum!

These are SO good!

Their business name, "Snyder's of Hanover," reminds me of Lord of the Rings.

When ever I think of Lord of the Rings I want to watch it.

Hello Fall

Hello again Fall. You are quite cold. I do not prefer that part of you but I do like your colors. Hopefully you will "slow the rain" for my birthday. Heheh so corny (Ingrid Michaelson reference ... I'm a big fan).

So, the holidays are coming up and their influences have affected me. (Hmmm does that make sense?). I have been screen printing on burlap for christmas items. More to come.

Over the last two weekends I have painted my bathroom green. Like a slightly dark avocado green. I didn't paint the wood trim because I think they look great together. I bought an antiquing kit today to antique the hardware. Next, I'd like to cover my bathroom floor in grass green bathroom rugs and get outdoor animal decorations (the ones people get for their gardens) but I'd like for them to look as life-like as possible. I moved to my current location last year and before I moved I came up with the idea of making my (future) bathroom have a forest theme. So far, my only decorations are a red lantern and two candles that look like logs of wood. Hmmm I need more inspiration. And when I say inspiration I mean money.

I love her music!

Ingrid Michaelson is a fantastic performer/musician/singer/song writer!

I saw her three times this week (once at Fingerprints in Long Beach and twice at the Troubadour in LA)! So much fun! Despite her second Troubadour set being a lot like the first.
